Message I have a 90tt with the Bose system in it and I have just experienced the same problem. It is exactly as the others have suggested, the amps in the Bose speakers are notorious for dying after about 5-10 years. There are many places on the web that will fix your amps for $100-150 EACH. I found 2 places locally in Dallas for $150-180 each including labor.
Although I wanted to keep my Z as stock as possible, I decided to replace by system completely. It did not make sense to spend over $500 on speakers hooked to a 10 year old head unit and CD player. The Bose speakers run at low impedance and cannot be used directly with new head units; they will eventually cause the premature failure of the head unit by drawing too much power.
Go to this web site for an excellent discussion of the pro's and con's of the Bose system: [ http://www.fiendation.com/300zx/bose.htm ] .

To make a long story short: yes, you can fix the Bose system for about $500-600. However, if there is a problem now or in the future with the head unit or CD, you are again faced with trying to repair old technology.

My suggestion: Replace your system but keep your stock system in a box in case a future owner wants the original. I have spent many hours researching this and can empathize with your frustration. Hope this helps, let me know if you need more info.
